Özet: Kötülüğü hapseden büyünün simgesi Elcrys ölmektedir. Yasaklamadan kurtulan İblisler dünyada tekrar kol gezmeye başlar. Dört Kara halkı ile Elfler'in tek çaresi, bir Seçilmiş olan Elf kızı Amberle'nin Elcrys tohumunu taşıması ve Elcrys'a yeniden hayat vermesidir. İblisler, Seçilmiş kızını öldürerek Yasaklamayı sonsuza dek kaldırmak niyetindedir. Bu zorlu yolculuğunda Amberle'ye, Wil Ohmsford dedesinin kendisine vermiş olduğu Elftaşları ile yardım edecektir. Önlerindeki bu apansız yolda eski çağlardan çıkıp gelen Druid Allanon ise Amberle ile Wil'e önderlik eder.
