AMC'nin yeni dizisi The Killing, son derece başarılı Danimarka televizyon dizisi "Forbrydelsen"in uyarlaması. Dizinin ana konusu cinayete kurban giden bir genç kızın soruşturması. İlk sezon 13 bölümden oluşuyor.
Seattle'da gerçekleşen bu cinayetin polis soruşturması tabanlı konusu ayrıca üç farklı hikâyeyi daha barındırıyor: Dosyaya atanan dedektiflerin, maktulün ailesinin ve şüphelilerin hikâyesi. Şehirdeki siyasetçilerin de soruşturmaya dahil olmasıyla olay iyice karışık bir hâl alıyor. Bölümler ilerledikçe hiçbir şeyin kazara olmadığı, herkesin bir sırrının olduğu ve karakterler hayatlarına devam etmeye çalıştıkça geçmişlerinin peşlerini bırakmayacağı su yüzüne çıkıyor.
17 yaşındaki maktul Rosie Larsen'ın cinayetini araştıran ortaklar Sarah Linden ve Stephen Holder'da açık açık bir Dana Scully ve Fox Mulder havası gizli. Kızıllığı ve soğukkanlı duruşuyla Linden Scully'i andırırken; daha çocuksu yapısı ve oyuncu karakteriyle Holder da Mulder'ı andırmıyor değil. Dramatik yapısına çok yakışan karamsar havası ve olağanüstü müzikleriyle The Killing kendini bir çırpıda diğerlerinden sıyırıyor.
